My Story

I am a dedicated, passionate professional with sixteen years of experience working with children/adolescents within various platforms of education. Followed by two years of experience counseling young adults and adults during my counseling program.

My Education and Training

Bethany Stokes, MA, LLPC,

My name is Bethany Stokes, I received my Bachelor’s degree in Integrative Studies Psychology from Oakland University. I am currently a graduate of Wayne State University. I believe that counseling is a tool that is full of different interventions, techniques, and resources that will provide my clients with the proper guidance for developing healthy lifestyle skills. My goals as a counselor will consist of creating a safe and non-judgmental environment, meeting my clients where they are at, and being sure to always promote client self-empowerment. As well as, focusing on social and emotional concerns. Particularly, concerns such as; low self-esteem, depression, bullying, family relationships, peer relationship, pursuing higher education, and other social and emotional factors. Throughout my education, I have gained a better understanding of utilizing CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction).

I am a dedicated, passionate professional with sixteen years of experience working with children/adolescents within various platforms of education. Followed by two years of experience counseling young adults and adults during my counseling program. Some of my areas of experience would consist of the following;

  • Providing crisis management using Restorative Justice/Mindfulness programs.
  • Supporting students living with (EI, ADHD, ADD, and Autism).
  • Helping students to develop and apply academic achievement strategies.
  • Providing individual students with academic planning and goal-setting services.
  • Facilitating individual and group sessions.

Outside of my education, I am one of the founders of “E.D.A.S.H. G.I.R.L.S” Mentoring Organization LLC (Everlasting Divas Achieve Succeed Highly Gorgeous Radiant Loving Sister) where we have made a significant impact within the urban Metro Detroit area. This organization focuses on supporting young girls ages 10 to 18. Our mission strives to support young girls by providing opportunities through various workshops such as; career goal planning, educational growth towards college achievement, open workshops, educational tours, guest speakers, mindfulness techniques/restorative practices, and more! By using these techniques, we can establish opportunities for young women to explore their interests by making healthier life decisions for their futures.
